Put learning into practice

Education becomes more meaningful when students have opportunities to use what they are learning in real communities and real situations. IVY encourages students to explore service and leadership experiences that connect personal growth with responsibility, initiative, and a wider sense of purpose.

These opportunities help students practice communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and follow-through outside the classroom. They also give students a way to connect their education to people, organizations, and needs beyond campus.

Faith-Based & Ministry Involvement

Students interested in Christian leadership and service may explore opportunities connected to ministry, outreach, and faith-based community involvement. These experiences give students a way to connect service with personal conviction and spiritual formation. For students pursuing biblical studies or related interests, this can become an important part of their larger educational experience.

Professional Outreach

Service-based learning can connect students with fields such as healthcare, business, technology, and community organizations. These experiences give students a broader view of how professional skills can be used in practical, people-centered ways. Students gain exposure to real environments while developing a more grounded sense of how their education can be applied.

Leadership Development

Leadership grows through practice, responsibility, and the willingness to show up for something larger than yourself. IVY students can participate in experiences that help them develop communication, initiative, follow-through, and judgment. These habits matter in school, work, and community life.

Community Service Projects

Students can take part in service projects with local organizations and community partners. These opportunities allow students to contribute their time and effort to work that matters outside the classroom. They also help students build a stronger connection to the Washington metropolitan area and the people who live there.
